Vignetto Acero was purchased by Alberto Gallo in 1988. At that time it was 1100 acres of land, lightly wooded with maple trees. The first type of grape Alberto chose to plant was the Nebiollo varietal. A few years later he added Moscato grapes, and Corvina grapes as well.
The Gallos purchased more land and increased the size of Maple Grove to 2000 acres in the 1990's. The expansion in size, allowed for an expansion in grape varietals - and Trebbiano and Arneis were soon added to the repretoire.
As of today the vineyard spans 2200 acres and produces 5 varietals of grapes. The winery and restaurant are situated on an acre of land which includes a small herb and vegetable garden.
